Zune will Play Games by July 2008

Microsoft’s Chief XBOX-Executive Peter Moore has said that the Microsoft Zune player will also have the game playing functionality by July 2008. This will be to compete with iPod’s ability to play game in near future. Zune has a bigger screen than iPod and so it can be a better gaming device. Will it be? Only time will tell whether Zune becomes a useful handheld gaming device.

I am not sure whether it is officially launched in India or not but Zune
is now available on some retail stores in India (for example: at heera panna mall in Mumbai) for a price of around Rs. 16,000 for a 30 GB model.

Similar 30 GB iPod in India is being sold at a price of Rs. 13,000 only.

Microsoft has released Vista update and Zune firmware update to make Microsoft Vista compatible with its Zune player.

It was announced yesterday:

Today (Tuesday the 19th of December) we’re issuing a 22 MB update to make Zune compatible with Windows Vista. The update also improves the Zune software installation process, addressing some of the known issues that users reported. Like Jason R said recently “It is plumbing stuff, but it is stuff customers will notice and appreciate.” So you should install the update, even if you’re not running Vista.
